Music and film in Motion brings workshops to Timmins.

The Sudbury-based Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is hitting the road, bringing a pair of workshops to Timmins on Feb. 3 as part of its InSight and Sound Seminar Series.

To be held at the Days Inn, the first workshop explores how being a musician in a Northern Ontario town leaves one wondering how they can break out of their region and start making some real noise. Called "Into the Great Wide Open," it will feature a discussion on what it really takes to break out, grab the attention of the pros and make a living. The session will be instructed by Marc Merilainen, a successful recording artist who has released four albums and performed at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver; and Mike Large, MFM's director of outreach services.
