More than $16 million in federal funding is being poured into upgrades to armouries in Northern Ontario.

Military facilities in North Bay are receiving more than $9.2 million in upgrades.

The North Bay Armoury is receiving more than $6.3 million for extensive interior and exterior renovations, roofing repairs, improved washroom facilities and repairs to emergency-lighting systems.

At 22 Wing North Bay, the Government will invest nearly $2.9 million to repair the fire-detection system to the Underground Complex, remove the former fire-suppression system, repair the roof and emergency-lighting system, and replace the heating boiler.

In Sault Ste. Marie, the Pine Street Armoury is using its $6 million to install a new ventilation system, to make repairs to the roof and lighting equipment, to paint the facility...
