Cold weather is being blamed for cutting into 3,600 jobs in the North Bay labour market since October.

But that's to be expected, says a local Human Resources Development Canada analyst, as seasonal industries such as tourism and road construction sectors usually slow down during the fall and winter months.

Unemployment in the region jumped from 8.1 per cent in October to 8.7 in November. There were also reductions in the information, recreation, forestry, fishing, mining, oil and gas, and trade sectors.
