Nunavummiut to celebrate Illisaivattunut Ulluq.

Nunavut Education Minister Peter Kilabuk has announced the creation of Illisaivattunut Ulluq, a celebratory day for those who teach. "This is an initiative that will recognize and celebrate those who are involved in all facets of teaching, not only in a formal classroom setting," Minister Kilabuk said. "This special day supports the Bathurst Mandate, which states in part that "the value of teaching and learning shall be acknowledged at all levels and from sources inside and outside of our communities."

Illisaivattunut Ulluq will be an annual event occurring on the last Monday of February to celebrate the work of all those who teach inside Nunavut's educational institutions, preschools, in the home, and in the broader community.
