Mine equipment manufacturer JKS Boyles has consolidated manufacturing operations in North Bay, closing its drill assembly shop in Orillia.

The company, which makes surface and underground drills and the Tuff line of downhole accessories, consolidated the operations late in the fall for efficiency, says Boyles spokesman Martin Summers.

The move should lower costs and result in better communications, Sommers says. The Orillia plant was leased and the operation split Boyles engineering staff into two locales.
