Yukon Justice Minister Elaine Taylor has requested that the recruitment process begin for a new Territorial Court Judge she announced today. The decision to have a third judge is one supported by the key stakeholders consulted which include the Council of Yukon First Nations, the Yukon Chapter of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of the Yukon.

"A third judge is important to both the integrity and accessibility of Yukon's justice system," Taylor said. "It also ensures the system will be more receptive to the needs of Yukoners and programs like Community Justice."
