Province to continue aboriginal economic development funding.

The province will continue funding the New Relationship Fund, which supports First Nations, Metis communities, and Aboriginal organizations to build capacity, create jobs, develop business partnerships, and improve economic opportunities.

The fund was originally set up as a four-year initiative in 2008. To date, it's created more than 540 jobs and trained 4,300 Aboriginal people.

Two types of funding are available: core consultation capacity funding, which helps First Nations and Metis communities consult and engage with governments and the private sector on land and resource matters; and enhanced capacity building funding, which supports projects that build the capacity of First Nations, Metis communities and Aboriginal organizations to work with government and participate in economic develop/bent activities.
