Research mine receives nearly $1m in expansion funding.

Nickel City innovation mill NORCAT is receiving $488,250 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. and the same amount through FedNor toward expanding the facility's research mine.

The $976,500 in funding will help the state-of-the-art mine continue in its mission of providing a petri dish for the development of new mining technologies.

Sudbury MPP and Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault was on hand to make the announcement, on behalf of Northern Development and Mines Minister Bill Mauro.
