A declining regional population base and local economic realities has prompted Sault College to examine new ways to draw in prospective students from outside the Algoma district.

The college wants to reverse a historical demographic trend of drawing 60 to 70 per cent of students from within the Algoma district. With the unveiling of their new five-year strategic plan last summer, renewed emphasis is being placed on attracting prospective students from outside the region, including targetting Southern Ontario.
