Sault taxing hotel stays: Municipal accommodation tax took effect Jan. 1.

A four per cent municipal accommodation tax is now in effect in Sault Ste. Marie.

The tax, which was approved at a Dec. 10 council meeting, took effect on Jan. 1. It will be applied to accommodations of less than 30 consecutive days, including at hotels, motels, motor hotels, lodges, inns, resorts, bed and breakfasts, or any place an accommodation is provided.
