A group of 600 homeowners in Quebec's Laurentian region took the province of Quebec, the local municipality, and several snowmobile clubs to court in a class action for damages. They claimed that noise pollution from nearby snowmobile trails had affected their health, causing them to suffer from insomnia, nervous problems, and related illnesses and estimated that some days as many as 1,500 snowmobiles passed by their homes.
