The Town of Sioux Lookout has signed on to an economic development initiative to partner with area First Nations.

The municipality had already signed a Friendship Accord in 2012. This new program, run through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers, will build on that relationship with the neighbouring First Nation communities of Lac Seul, Slate Falls and Cat Lake.

The First Nation-Municipal Community Economic Development Initiative is an exercise designed to improve regional development prospects, job opportunities and attract investment.
