Sudbury's Alicia Woods has been named a 2017 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

It's a prestigious recognition that acknowledges 100 people from around the globe, all under the age of 40, who are making progress in their respective fields.

Woods is the manager of Marcotte Mining, a company originally co-founded by her father Paul Marcotte.

She is additionally the founder and designer behind Covergalls, a coverall tailored to the fit of a woman's body for use by women working in industrial sectors.

Woods is also the first woman selected as a board member of the Sudbury Mining Supply and Service Association.
