Eastmaque Mines closed its mine tailings operation in Kirkland Lake last month, putting 36 employees out of work.
Since opening in December 1987 the operation had produced 70,000 ounces of gold from 2.7 million tons of ore.
However, the operation became less feasible because of fixed costs, dropping gold prices and a reduction in both ore grades and total reserves.
