Pic River First Nation is weighing in on the Hemlo property tax dispute.

The Marathon-area Ojibwa reserve is seeking what it believes to be its fair share of the $2 million in annual property taxes paid by the three Hemlo gold mines combined. Tax revenues are currently split between Marathon and Manitouwadge. The two communities have had the unprecedented authority for the past 12 years to tax the mines even though they're 40 kilometres outside municipal boundaries.
