La 5e session de la 17e législature s'est terminée le 6 novembre 2014, après l'étude et l'adoption de six mesures législatives, notamment les prévisions d'immobilisations pour 2015-2016 et deux projets de loi sur les crédits supplémentaires.
Le commissaire des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, George L. Tuccaro, a sanctionné les six projets de loi le 6 novembre 2014.
Durant la session d'automne, le gouvernement a déposé cinq autres projets de loi, qui ont franchi les étapes de la première et de la deuxième lecture avant d'être renvoyés à un comité permanent. Parmi ceux-ci, notons la nouvelle Loi sur la gestion des finances publiques, renvoyée au Comité permanent des opérations gouvernementales. Ce projet de loi modifie la loi en vigueur, dont le libellé date de 1987.
Deux motions d'intérêt ont fait l'objet d'un débat au cours des derniers jours de la session d'automne. La première, déposée par Robert Hawkins, demandait à l'Assemblée d'appuyer le premier ministre des Territoires du Nord-Ouest dans ses efforts de concertation avec des organismes autochtones en vue de tenir une enquête nationale et d'organiser des tables rondes partout au pays sur les disparitions et les meurtres de femmes et de filles autochtones. La motion a été adoptée à l'issue d'un vote par appel nominal (17 députés pour et une abstention).
La deuxième motion, déposée par Michael Nadli, visait l'établissement d'un ombudsman des Territoires du Nord-Ouest. Cette motion a également été adoptée à l'issue d'un vote par appel nominal de 11 contre 6 (membres du comité exécutif), aucune abstention. Le gouvernement est tenu de fournir une réponse exhaustive à la motion dans les 120 jours suivant son dépôt.
