Three Sault companies receive FedNor funding

FedNor has earmarked more than $67,000 from its core industrial program to assist three Sault Ste. Marie companies.

Medallion Computer Corporation of the Sault is receiving $7,690 for a $12,816 innovation project.

Incorporated in 1987, Medallion Computer conducts research and development of electronic products.

The funded project will involve the redesigning and perfecting of a solid-state liquid-control device to detect the presence of water by using copper wires.

An official of the firm explained that the electronic system will replace the mechanical switches and weights used in some water pumps to detect water levels.

Rector's Machine Shop Ltd. has been given $55,000 for the $275,000 cost of purchasing additional shop equipment.
