Thunder Bay's Valhalla Inn announced its restoration plans for its Timbers restaurant, damaged by a January 3 fire, are now complete and interior construction is underway.

In a July 10 release, the hotel said further renovations are in progress for its upscale Runway 25 Steakhouse with new interior planned. The popular local eatery will have a new aviation themed decor using various metal and wood finishes, and the lounge space will be updated.

The more casual Timbers restaurant is being relocated into space occupied by Runway 25.

The fully renovated Runway 25 Steakhouse and Timbers restaurant are expected to reopen this fall. In the meantime, both restaurants are operating from a shared space.

"This is a major renovation project for the Valhalla Inn," said general manager Mary McLellan. "Timbers restaurant has been a cornerstone for both our hotel and for the community of Thunder Bay since 1990."
