Victoria criminals shocked by police.

The Victoria, British Columbia, Police Department has just completed a six-month trial of the TASER gun. This electrical gun sends two probes into the skin or clothing of a person and these probes send 50,000 volts through the target, who tends to freeze and fall to the floor. Once the police officer releases the trigger of the TASER the voltage stops and the person is no longer immobilized.

Sgt. Darren Laur, who was in charge of the testing of the TASER, reports that it was a great success, and he will recommend its addition to the regular set of weapons available to police officers. The TASER was used 14 times during the six months; nine times it was actually fired...
