London, United Kingdom. October 13, 2023. — vLex has officially launched the 2024 edition of the International Law and Technology Writing Competition. Over 400 students from hundreds of universities worldwide have taken part in the writing competition since its inception seven years ago, and a collective £10,000 in prize money has been awarded by vLex in that time.

This year, students are encouraged to research and write a 1000-word submission on one of the following topics: immigration, large language models, or industrial action. All submissions must clearly identify how the law and technology have impacted the key topic. More information can be found on the competition page, including keywords that will kick-start research and the deadline date.

The writing competition provides students with the unique opportunity to stand out from their peers, enhance their employability, and have their work published to an international audience. Winning articles reach thousands of legal professionals worldwide, while prize money ranges from £250-£1,500 for the best-in-category runners-up and overall winner.

What started as a relatively small competition to encourage students to apply their legal knowledge and enhance their writing skills has turned into a multi-national, globally recognised event that prepares students from all over the world for careers in the legal industry,” said Dr Matthew Terrell, Head of Marketing at vLex and writing competition founder.

We welcome all students over the age of 18 to join the competition. Please note that articles must be written in English, with only one submission allowed per topic, written by a single author. Each one of the three topic categories is open for interpretation, so we’re excited to see where you take your submission. Good luck!
