About the Authors

Julien D. Payne, CM, QC, LLD, LSM , FRSC, one of Canada’s foremost family

law special ists, has been called t he architect of the Unied Family Cour t and

no-fault divorce. He has taught fa mily law at the Universities of A lberta,

Western Ontario, Ottaw a, and Saskatchewan a nd has written e xtensively

about family law and fa mily dispute resolution. His writi ngs have been cited

on hundreds of occasions by t rial courts a nd appellate courts in C anada, in-

cluding the Supreme Court of C anada. He was awarded the Law Societ y Med-

al by the Law Societ y of Upper Canada in   and was made a member of

the Order of Canada i n . Julien D. Payne is the co-author of Child Suppor t

Guidelines in Canada, 2017, published by Irwin Law.

Marilyn A. Pay ne is an experie nced author and the founding editor of
