Summary:

The parties agreed that the wife should have custody of their two daughters. The wife applied for child support in accordance with the Child Support Guidelines.

The Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench determined the appropriate amount of child support.

Divorce - Corollary relief - Maintenance awards - Considerations - Support tables - A wife had custody of the two children of the marriage, aged 16 and 13 - The wife earned around $14,000 per year and the husband earned almost $44,000 - The wife sought child maintenance in accord­ance with the Guidelines and claimed additional maintenance for health related expenses and for the children's many ex­tracurricular activities - The Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench calculated that the basic level of support was $587.15 - The court determined that the health expenses were best dealt with under the husband's medical insurance - The court also deter­mined which extracurricular expenses were extraordinary expenses pursuant to the Guidelines and allowed a monthly cost of $42.34 for those expenses.
