Injury and death - Leg injuries - Femur - Open fracture at mid-shaft of femur, shattering femur into five pieces, resulting in shortening of the 15 year old female plaintiff's leg - Plaintiff was left with a considerable residual disability from the difference in the length of her legs, with the probability of low bodily pain due to use of a lift and with a high risk of arthritis to the spine, if she failed to use the lift - The Newfoundland Supreme Court, Trial Division, awarded the plaintiff $15,000.00 general damages - See paragraph 31.
