Summary:
This case arose out of an application by a radio station to be present and to report the proceedings of the trial of a juvenile. The trial judge granted the application. The accused appealed to the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench.
The Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench dismissed the appeal. The accused appealed to the Manitoba Court of Appeal.
The Manitoba Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal. The judgment of the Manitoba Court of Appeal is reported at 5 Man.R.(2d) 66. The accused appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.
The Supreme Court of Canada allowed the appeal on the ground that the trial of juveniles must be held in camera.
