Benjamin Alarie is assistant professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty
of Law. Ben has degrees in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and
the University of Toronto, and degrees in law from the University of Toronto
and Yale Law School. In 2003–4, Ben served as law clerk to Madam Justice
Louise Arbour of the Supreme Court of Canada. He is called to the Bar of
Ontario, and is a Senior Fellow in the Taxation Law and Policy Research
Institute of Monash University. Professor Alarie’s research has been pub-
lished in several refereed journals, including the American Business L aw
Journal , the Can adian Tax Journal, and the University of Toronto Law Jour-
nal. Ben is co-author, with David Duff, Kim Brooks, and Lisa Philipps, of
Canadian Income Tax Law, Second Edition (Markha m: LexisNexis Butter-
worths, 2006).
Paul R. Albi is a senior counsel at Davis LLP where he has practised liti-
gation since 1979. He has appeared before federal and provincial cour ts
and tribunals. Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, with a con-
centration in Finance and Economics. His litigation practice emphasizes
complex commercial and f‌inancial issues, shareholders’ remedies, forensic
accounting, a nd regulatory matters. A signif‌icant contributor to the legal
community, Paul is published and lectures frequently. Currently, Mr. Albi
leads Davis LLP’s forty-member Vancouver litigation department.
Tony Anderson is a partner and economist with Deloitte’s National Transfer
Pricing Group in Canada. Tony holds a Chartered Financial Analyst desig-
nation and a Master of Ar ts in Economics. Tony has extensive experience
as a transfer pricing spec ialist with the international tax practice of the To-
