DEDICATION
We all know that cancer is a horrible disease. When someone learns that he or
she has this illness everyone is affected — family, fr iends and the community.
Millions die e very year from cancer. Yet, we are making progres s to combat the
disease and more people diag nosed with cancer today are living longer and beat-
ing it.
In my f‌ifteen plus years at th e Toronto Regional O ff‌ice of the Department of
Justice (Canada) I worked with many colleagues that were aff‌licted with cancer.
I would like to dedicate this book to those that continue to beat the odds and in so
doing, they continue to make valuable contributions to their community, to their
friends and most importantly, to their families — Patricia Lee, Bonnie Boucher
and Kevin Wilson — and to my former colleague who “fought the good f‌ight” and
is no longer with us, Livia Singer. All of these peopl e are shining examples to the
rest of us of how we can make a dif ference and make the world a better place for
everyone.
