Dependents' relief legislation - Awards - Periodic payments, widow - The testator's widow, who was 73 years old and in ill health, brought an application for relief from the provisions of her husband's will, by which she would have received $20,000.00 and title to a house worth $75,000.00 - The estate was valued at $520,407.54 - Unpaid interim maintenance, payable by the husband, totalled $13,000.00, although the widow had only a marginal income and was partly on welfare - The Alberta Court of Queen's Bench ordered the sum of $10,000.00 per annum to be paid by the estate for the support of the widow, together with the municipal tax levy and insurance upon her home - See paragraph 6.
