Summary:

An accused shot and killed his wife and then shot himself. The accused survived but the shot virtually destroyed his face. He pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment plus a 25 year prohibition on the use of firearms subsequent to his release. The accused appealed his sentence.

The Ontario Court of Appeal allowed the appeal and reduced his custodial sentence to two years' imprisonment.
