Summary:
A jury convicted the accused of conspiring to traffic in cannabis resin (hashish). The accused conspired with others to have 50 grams of hashish (worth $550) delivered to him in the Halifax Correctional Facility.
The Nova Scotia Supreme Court sentenced the accused to two years' imprisonment consecutive to the time he was already serving.

Sentence - Trafficking in hashish or marijuana - The accused (age 18) was convicted of conspiring to traffic in hashish - He requested that two underlings of his in the drug trade (one was a youth) and others smuggle 50 grams of hashish (worth $550) into him in the Halifax Correctional Facility - His intention was to keep the hashish for his personal use - Grade nine education - Extensive criminal record - Now serving the third year of eight years worth of sentences for, inter alia, manslaughter and possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking - He was studying in prison - Another co-conspirator, the accused's uncle, who had sold the hashish to the accused's underlings, received a sentence of one year in jail for his role (but he had no criminal record) - The Crown sought a sentence of four to five years - The Nova Scotia Supreme Court sentenced the accused to two years' imprisonment consecutive to the time he was already serving.
