Summary:

An accused pled not guilty to, inter alia, a charge of one count of sexual interference. The accused "elected" to be tried by Provin­cial Court judge. The accused retained new counsel, and now seeks to "re-elect", by asking the court to exercise its discretion and con­vert the pro­ceeding into a prelimi­nary inquiry, pur­su­ant to s. 555 of the Criminal Code.

The Alberta Provincial Court denied the accused's application.
