Summary:
The accused pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm and assault. The accused was sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment for assault causing bodily harm and three months' imprisonment (consecutive) for assault. The accused appealed against the sentences.
The British Columbia Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal.

Sentence - Assault - The accused, while in an intoxicated rage, kicked his female companion in the face four times, causing bruising to her head, a facial cut and two black eyes - Five months later he again attacked his companion, punching and kicking her in the head and ribs and causing further injuries - The accused had a lengthy criminal record, including two convictions for assault - Unfavourable presentence report - The British Columbia Court of Appeal dismissed the accused's appeal from sentences of 20 months' imprisonment for assault causing bodily harm and three months' imprisonment (consecutive) for assault.
