The following Internet subscriptions have specialized content of interest to Canadian legal researchers, depending on the topic. More information about each service is available on the applicable company’s website.

1) Criminal Spectrum (www canadalawbook.ca)

This online service, depending on the scope of one’s subscription, provides access to criminal law resources of interest to criminal lawyers, including the full-text of the Canadian Criminal Cases (1898 to current), Weekly Criminal Bulletin case summaries, Martin’s Annual Criminal Code and Martin’s Related Criminal Statutes, the Criminal Law Quarterly journal, and various criminal law treatises published by Canada Law Book (including, for example, MCWILLIAMS’ Canadian Criminal Evidence, 4th ed.).

2) DISCLOSURENET (www disclosurenet.com)

DISCLOSURENET provides access to the securities law filings of public companies (whose stocks are traded to the public). Coverage includes Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. Its strength over the free versions of such databases (e.g., SEDAR at www.sedar.com) is a more powerful search engine to make searches more precise. 3) HEINONLINE (www heinonline.org)

HEINONLINE, already mentioned in Chapter 2, Section B, is perhaps best known for its over 1,300 full-text law journals (in PDF and HTML), including over fifty Canadian law journals. However, it has other content of interest to Canadian legal researchers, including the full text of the English Reports (1220-1865), the U.S. Reports, the U.S. Statutes at Large, the American Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations, a Treaties and Agreements Library, and a Legal Classics library containing over 1,400 classic legal treatises (mostly olders ones that are in the public domain).

4) Justis com (www.justis.com)

Although this database, based in the United Kingdom, has a variety of international and EU databases, of most...
