Acknowledgments
There is a community of dedicated and thoughtful people concerned
with the employment and labour law governing Ontario’s public service
and designated Crown agencies. It is our hope that this book will be
useful to them. Quite a few members of this community have contrib-
uted in one way or another, and the authors are very grateful to them.
This is a second edition. While it has been substantially rewrit-
ten, there is still a huge debt owed to the legion of people previously
acknowledged. We thank all of them again.
In this edition, several people were prepared to invest some of
their considerable expertise in much appreciated written contributions
on particular topics: Cynthia Crysler of Cavalluzzo LLP (OPS pen-
sions); Katherine Ferreria of Koskie Minsky LLP (occupational health
and safety); Ian Roland of Paliare Roland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP
(Ontario Provincial Police); and Cameron Walker, retired Senior Nego-
tiator, Ontario Public Service Employees Union (job security under the
OPSEU/MBC collective agreements).
Among others, the following people helped in other valuable ways,
including, in some cases, providing very helpful comments on part of
the manuscript:
Kevin Banks
Tim Bartkiw
Sara Blake
Paul Cavalluzzo
Ian Colvin
