Conclusion
   a book about questions, it seems appropri-
ate to conclude by posing some questions for you, the
reader, to consider.
• What changes will you make to your approach to
conducting interviews as a result of reading this book?
• Where will the techniques discussed in this book
have the greatest impact, and at what cost to your
practice?
• Why will a change in your interviewing techniques
help you, and your clients?
• When will you implement the new skills you have
practised in doing the exercises in this book?
• Who among your clients will benet most from a
change in the way you ask questions?
• How will you prepare for your next interview?
Interview skills are necessary for both legal and other
professionals with clients. When people interact, discus-
sion is the best format to build rapport. Question and
answer can so easily turn into interrogation, but when
time is short, there may be no other choice.
