ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ruth Sullivan is a Professor of Law at the University of Ottawa, Com-

mon Law Section. She holds degrees in Common Law and Civil Law

as well as Master’s degree s in English and Legi slation. She has worked

as legislative counsel for the Department of Justice and has offered

training i n legislative drafting and statutory interpretation to many

audiences in Canada and abroad. She ha s been publishing books a nd

articles on statutor y interpretation for the past 15 year s.
