ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Julien D. P ayne, C.M., Q.C., LL.D., LSM, F.R.S.C., one of Canada’s foremost family law spe-
cialists, ha s been called the arch itect of the Unif‌ied Fami ly Courts and No-Fault Divorce.
He is a pioneer of alternative family dispute resolution. He has ser ved as opinion counsel,
mediator, arbitrator, and third-party neutral in a wide va riety of family disputes. He taught
family law at the Universities of Western Ontario, Alberta, O ttawa, and Saskatchewan,
and has written exten sively about divorce and family law. He was appointed to the rank
of Queen’s Counsel in . He was awarded the Law Society Medal by the Law Society of
Upper Canada in , and was made a member of the Order of Canada in .
Julien D. Payne is the co-author of Canadian Family Law, ird Edition, a companion
text to Child Support Guideline s in Canada, published by Irwin Law.
Marilyn A. Payne is an experienced author and the foundingeditor of Payne’s Divorce and
Family Law Digest. She has co-authored several family law book s; most recently, Canadian
