ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Sasha Baglay (LLB, Kiev National Economic University; LLM in Com-
parative Constitutional L aw, Central European University; LLM, Dal-
housie University; PhD, York University) is an Associate Professor of
Legal Studies at the Faculty of Soci al Science and Humanities, Univer-
sity of Ontario Inst itute of Technology; a nd an Adjunct Professor at
Osgoode Hall Law School. She has w ritten and presented on various
issues of Canadian and comparative immigr ation and refugee law and
policy. In 2009–10, she was president of the Canadian Association for
Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.
Martin Jones (BA Hons, Queen’s University; LLB, University of British
Columbia) practised as an immig ration and refugee lawyer in Can ada
for seven years. During th at time he represented more than one thou-
sand immigra nts and refugee claimants in all st ages of the immigration
and refugee protection process. Currently, Martin is a sen ior lecturer
in international human rights law at the Centre for Applied Human
Rights at the University of York (UK). He has previously taught and
served as a vi siting researcher at Osgoode Hall Law School (Canada),
Queen’s University (Canada), the Centre for Refugee Studie s (Canada),
the University of East London (UK), Georgetown University (US), the
University of Michigan (US), the American University in Cairo (Egy pt),
and the University of Melbourne (Australia). Mart in has widely pre-
sented and published on various topics in refugee and mig ration law.
