   living with vision loss face special chal-
lenges as they transition from high school to further educa-
tion and adult life. e mission of the Canadian National
Institute for the Blind (CNIB) is to provide community-
based services to ensure Canadians who are blind or par-
tially sighted have the condence, skills, and opportunities
to fully participate in life. One of the ways we work with
youth is through an intensive two-week program known as
SCORE — Skills, Condence and Opportunities through
Recreation and Education.
Working in teams, participants of the SCORE pro-
gram learn vital skills through workshops, discussion
groups, and community-based projects focused on enhan-
cing their teamwork, leadership, personal development,
and understanding of civic responsibility. ey are also
exposed to the many post-secondary options available to
them after they graduate high school, and are encouraged
to establish career goals on their paths to success.
