REFUGEES
A subset of immigration and citizenship law, the law of refugees refers to the application for
residency in Canada by persons from other countries who face persecution or danger were
they to return to the countries from which they came. This is entirely within the federal sphere
of activity and is governed by the federal Immigration & Refugee Protection Act. Related topic:
IMMIGRATION & CITIZENSHIP.
