Scope The implementation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (the "Charter") in 1982 has increased the profile of constitutional law in Canada due to a number of high profile human rights cases being decided by the Supreme Court of Canada. Constitutional law involves a combination of the application of various federal legislation (including the Charter and the Constitution Act, 1867), provincial legislation, and case law.
