ADOPTION
A subset of family law, this area deals specif‌ically with the adoption of minors and is, for the
most part, a matter of provincial jurisdiction. Much of adoption law is grounded in the various
provincial child protection statutes, but there is relevant federal legislation as well (e.g., the
