INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW

This is a rapidly expanding subject in Canadian law. Generally speaking, it relates to all manner

of legal implications associated with information technology (computers, PDAs, blackberries,

IPODs, inter alia). Its major subtopics include computer crime, e-commerce, circuit board

and database design and protection, domain names, software licensing, etc. There are also

a number of privacy and intellectual property issues at play in this topic (primarily copyright

and trade-mark). The intellectual property matters are essentially federal in scope, while most

other issues fall under provincial jurisdiction. There is an ever growing body of jurisprudence

res méritent une mention : (i) l’introduction générale à Internet et les moyens techniques de

s’y brancher ; (ii) les problèmes juridiques posés par Internet et qui recoupent les domaines

du droit : CRIMINEL (DROIT) ; PROPRIÉTÉ INTELLECTUELLE ; ACCÈS À L’INFORMATION ;

COMMUNICATIONS (DROIT DES) ; (iii) la recherche d’informations juridiques au moyen de

Internet, un volet complémentaire à une démarche de RECHERCHE DOCUMENTAIRE.
